I think this tournament style could be the way of the future for tournaments. I'm curious if you've got some teams signed up for it yet and what the response has been from other fishermen?

So far we only have 2 paid entries into the tournament. Although we have quite a few teams that have verbally committed to fishing the event. As can be seen on the website, there is an early entry fee through April 20th. I sort of think people will wait until that date gets a little closer to sign up!
We have been getting a lot of positive feedback from fisherman up and down the coast and expect this to be a great event.
We also have a very nice Penn Captains bag for the first 50 paid entries, so make sure to get signed up early!!!

Were up to 8 entries so far!!! Only a month away!!! Be sure to get registered early. The first 50 entries receive a very nice Penn Tackle/Captains bag, provided by Penn Reels.

First and foremost, Thank you to James & Jen for the addition of the King of the South link to the forum homepage. It was also nice to meet both of you at the 1st Wild Wild West event. Definitley a 1st Class event in every manner! Secondly, just a reminder to all fisherman. we are less than 10 day away from the early entry deadline into the King of the South Fishing Tournament. Everything is a go. Captains Meeting/Party is set for this Saturday, April 28th @ Whites Tackle in Ft. Pierce. Party starts @ 5:00pm until 7:30pm or so. Come on out and enjoy some BBQ. Don,t forget you can use your weigh slip from the 3 SKA sanctioned tournaments that fall within the dates of the King of the South Fishing Tournament to save a trip to Ft. Chris - we are so bummed that we aren't going to make it to your Captain's Meeting!! With the weather we had last weekend we had to reschedule our 2nd tournament to this Sunday. We know your tournament will be a great success! Good luck to you & hope to see you again in the near future!! Will you be having any type of party at the end of the tournament series?

No problem. Mother nature has been very rough on several of the tournaments this year. At least this weekends forecast looks very favorable for you. I look forward to fishing the remaining two events later in the year.
As for the awards party. I'm not exactly sure on the final details at this point. The awards will be held at White's Tackle. With this format, i think that for the most part, only the winning teams will participate at the awards with the exception of a few locals. However, we are still working out all the details. Most of the effort now is being focused on the Captains Meeting/Party to get this tournament kicked off. We will continue planning the awards party as the tournament gets going. I will keep you informed as things progress.

Just an update. The Captains party went very well. A great crowd attended and enjoyed the food, beverage, and music. We currently have 27 paid entries as of May 1st. We have extended the early registration so get signed up now. Registration will remain open for an additional 15 days. Another King of the South update: As we approach the June 14th deadline a few more teams are declaring their fish days. We have a new leader as of yesterday....Doug Miller fishing aboard his new 37" Sea Hunter...Miller Tyme. Doug & crew landed another nice fish weighing in at 37.80 lbs. giving him a current 2 fish aggregate of 73.06 lbs. Nice job Doug!!!!!!!!
